KABUL
(Pajhwok): A large number of protestors in Kabul on Thursday demanded the route of a transnational power import project be changed to pass through central Bamyan province.
The protestors, marching from Masli Mazari area in the sixth police district, chanted“we want Justice, be united for your freedom, TUTAP is our right and no to discrimination”.’
The Pajhwok Afghan News reporter at the scene said thousands of people participated in the rally.One of the protestors, Mohammad Daud, said their demand was changing the TUTAP project route to Bamyan.
He added: “This protest is not held by a particular tribe;our aim is justice to the province.” On Friday, Vice-President Sarwar Danish asked people not to listen to “opportunists who exploitedpublic sentiments”.
Strict security measures were put in place in Kabul ahead of the demonstarion, which largely remained peaceful.
