KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Five members of the US special operation forces have recently wounded in anti-Daesh operation in easte Afghanistaninfo-icon, a media report said on Friday.

According to Sputnik, the NATOinfo-icon Resolute Support (RS) Mission Head Gen. John Nicholson told reporters on Thursday a total of five service-members have been injured in a joint operation with Afghan forces against Daesh rebels in Nangarhar province.

Almost 1,000 to 1,500 Daesh rebels were currently existed and involved in insurgency in Afghanistan, earlier the number of these hardcore militants was 3,000.

The US-led NATO mission in Afghanistan formally ended its operations in December 2014 after a presence in the country since 2001 to help local authorities to defeat the Talibaninfo-icon Islamist movement. Afghanistan, however, continues to be in political and social turmoil as jihadist groups take advantage of the instability in the country.

Considering unstable security situation in Afghanistan, US President Barack Obama a head of the July 8-9 Warsaw Summit aounced to leave over 8,000 US troops in Afghanistan until the end of his administration.

The NATO summit also pledged fresh assistance to Afghanistan including the training and financial support of Afghan security forces until 2020.
