Kabulinfo-icon (Pajhwok): US, UNAMA, Pakistaninfo-icon, India and others strongly condemned attack on Afghan-American University that killed and wounded dozens of people , mostly students.

Sixteen people were killed and another 55, were wounded in Wednesday complex attack in PD7 Kabul city, officials said.

UNAMA condemns attack in Kabul on the American University of Afghanistaninfo-icon that killed and wounded mostly civilians and students.

“An attack deliberately targeting an educational facility, during evening classes for university students, is an atrocity and those responsible must be held accountable," said Pernille Kardel, the Secretary-General’s Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan and Acting Head of Mission.

“The country’s youth are a source of pride and bring real hope for a better future. I am hopeful that violence will not discourage their desire for continued learning and attaining the knowledge and skills critical to Afghanistan’s prosperity,” she said.

UNAMA expresses deepest condolence to the families of those killed in this incident and wishes a speedy recovery for all those injured.

Pakistan also strongly condemns the terrorist attack at the American University in Kabul.

“We extend our profound condolences with the Government and the people of Afghanistan and the families of those who lost their loved ones in this brutal terrorist attack. We also pray for the speedy recovery of the wounded.” FO said in a statement

Pakistan reiterates its condemnation of terrorism in all forms and manifestations. It added.

US embassy in Kabul also condemns Wednesday’s heinous attack on the American University Afghanistan in Kabul. The targeting of Afghan students and university staff who are working to improve the future of Afghanistan is a cruel and cowardly act.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with those killed and injured, as well as with the victims’ families, colleagues, and friends,” said U.S. Ambassador P. Michael McKinley. “We remain strongly committed to the people of Afghanistan who are dedicated to establishing lasting peace and security and building the brightest possible future for their children.” He addes.

The U.S. Embassy stands ready to assist Afghan authorities with their continuing investigation in bringing those responsible to justice.

Indian prime minister Narendra Modi also condemned Kabul attack.

“We strongly condemn the attack on American University in Kabul,” the Prime Minister tweeted. “Condolences to the bereaved families and prayers with the injured.”
