Europe urged not to forcibly deport Afghan migrants

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation on Saturday said most of the Afghan youth had left their country due to insecurity and joblessness, urging European countries not to forcibly deport Afghan asylum seekers.

Investigation and study centre head at the ministry, Ali Reza Mowahidi, told Pajhwok Afghan News more than 250,000 Afghans had left the country for Europe owing to insecurity and joblessness.

He was talking to Pajhwok Afghan News on the sidelines of a gathering in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northe Balkh province.

In addition, many Afghans residing in Russia, Iran and other countries had moved Europe from there, Mowahidi said.

He said they were using different methods to prevent the Afghans from migrating to Europe, but they not in favour of forced deportation of Afghans.

“If an Afghan is not eligible to live in Europe, he/she should be treated in accordance with the inteational migration laws,” he said.

According to the German consulate in Mazar-i-Sharif, a total 150,000 people from northe Afghanistan have gone to Europe during the past one year.
