India to assist families of Jalalabad attack victims

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The Indian ambassador on Friday said his country would assist families of the victims killed and wounded in a group Taliban attack near the Indian diplomatic mission in Jalalabad, the capital of easte Nangrahar province.

Manpreet Vohra during a meeting with Nangrahar Goveor Salim Khan Kunduzi extended his condolences to the victims’ families on behalf of the people and govement of India and promised them assistance.

One policeman and two civilians were killed and another 19 civilians were wounded in the Wednesday’s attack that came to an end after all the attackers were killed by the Afghan Security forces.

The Indian envoy thanked the goveor and security forces for their quick response to the attack to protect the Indian Consulate staff.

Kunduzi said Afghanistan considered India a close friend and peoples of the both countries had good relations.

At the meeting, the goveor offered a more secure place for the Indian diplomatic mission in Jalalabad, which the Indian envoy welcomed and said they would consider the offer, according to a statement from the goveor’s house.
