Taliban warns govt not to execute their prisoners

KABUL (Pajhwok): While reacting on the recent remarks of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, Taliban said if president’s order regarding execution of Taliban prisoners was enforced, they would target judiciary organs of the govement.

During his speech to parliament, Ghani had instructed the judiciary departments to submit the list of those prisoners of Taliban whom were awarded with death sentences, for final review by president.

If the verdict of execution was enforced, Taliban would not remain silent, and would target the officials of judiciary departments, a statement from Taliban said.

“Taliban would also target those individuals and organisations that asked death sentence for the members of Taliban group,” the statement stated while waing that enforcing of the order would also endanger the lives of Afghan and foreign prisoners with Taliban.

Taliban have been behaving with prisoners in accordance with Islamic rules for prisoners, but in case the govement enforces such verdicts, Taliban courts would also issue their final verdicts about the captive Afghan and foreign soldiers.

Taliban also asked the human rights inteational organisations, free media outlets, the Inteational Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and other impartial organisations not to be neutral about the execution of the Taliban prisoners and should play their role to prevent the executions.
