Boy kills little sister with hunting gun

SHEBRGHAN (Pajhwok): A boy has killed his six years old sister while playing with a hunting gun in Mangjak district of northweste Jwzjan province, an official said on Monday. Mohammad Reza Ghafoori, the goveor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place when a seven years old boy was playing with a hunting gun and mistakenly pressed its trigger. He said the gun fire hit the girl and killed her. The brother and sister were playing with the gun alone in a room of their house and their parents and family members were in the house’s yard when the incident happened, he added. Police have launched an investigation into the incident. A number of residents of the area linked such incidents to negligence of parents. JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Drone strikes killed 30 Islamic State and Taliban militants, including two key commanders, and injured another three Taliban fighters in easte Nangarhar province, officials said on Monday. Nangarhar police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhowk Afghan News the drone strikes took place last night in Achin, Momand Dara and Khogyani districts. A Daesh commander named Sajid was among 19 others killed in the strikes in Achin’s Pekha area, he said, adding the dead included some Pakistani rebels. He said Sajid had been spearheading a 50-member armed group. The goveor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, said Sajid was a resident of Pakistan’s Orakzai tribal region and he led the latest attacks in Kot district. He said dead included Sajid’s nephew as well. Sher Aqa Faqiri, the 201 Selab Military Corps spokesman, said the drone targeted hideouts of Daesh militants and destroyed their weapons and ammunition. Officials said a Taliban commander Sabir Kuchi was killed along with nearly a dozen fighters in a drone strike in the Khogyani district. Another three were injured, they said. Mashriqiwal said commander Sabir Kuchi was living in Kot district and he was considered among key Taliban commanders. Sabir had been involved in a series attacks, he said. A resident of Khogyani district, Obaidullah, said Sabir Kuchi was travelling in a convoy of vehicles with his fighters when came under attack from the air. PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Local officials on Thursday said three brothers were killed and as many others wounded by a group of illegal gunmen in northe Baghlan province. Haji Mohammad Sher, a resident of Ulia village of Jalga district, told Pajhwok Afghan News the presence of illegal armed men in Baghlan, was increasing with each passing day. “Armed supporters of an illegal commander named Inamullah killed three brothers and injured three others over a dispute on irrigation water in Ulia village on Monday evening, No one has yet asked the gunmen about the killings,” he said. Shercomplained the irresponsible gunmen were extorting money from residents and posing a big threat to public order in the area. Raz Mohammad, another inhabitant of the area,allegedthe blood of innocent people had no value in eyes of the national unity govement. He said security officials had not reached the area to investigate the incident. “The govement seems to have no writ here. We request the officials conceed to crack down on the illegal armed men and ensure people’s security,” he said. 94 girls, boys attempted suicide in Jawzjan’s Darzab last year

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): At least 94 girls and boys attempted suicide by self-immolation and drinking acid in Darzab district of northe Jawzjan province during the past one year, with 15 of them losing lives, an official said on Thursday. Rahmatullah Hashar, the district administrative chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News 79 individuals got their body organs paralysed due to their suicide attempt. He said undesirable customs, poverty, joblessness and pressures from militants had badly affected the lives of youngsters in far-flung areas of the province. Hashar lamented there were no opportunities available for the youth to utilise their energies and make life ideal for themselves. The waste of their valuable time and bleak future encouraged the youth to attempt suicide and other dangerous things, he added. He called the figures on suicidal attempts and incidents as authentic, though some families denied sharing such incidents in public due to cultural restrictions and embarrassment in society. Fazela, 27, a resident of Darzab district, attempted self-immolation, but was rescued and now in terrible condition. She faced violence everyday at the hands of her husband, an aggressive person who beat her daily for no reason. Maghfirat Samimi, Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) head for Jawzjan, Faryab and Sar-i-Pul provinces, said forced marriages, child marriages and giving girls into marriages to settle a dispute were main natures of violence against women. She said some girls married in childhood did not understand marital life and when they grew up, they faced multiple problems, which ultimately led to violence and an unhappy life. Mohammad Rassoul Akhunzada, head of a local council, said Islam strictly prohibited suicide as a sin.
